For the love of Les Paul

Author: matthew /

This is a Gibson Les Paul Standard which caught my fancy at the beginning of this year but as time goes by a mere fancy burned into a passion & now I'm all out to own one. This is one of the two most famous & widely used electric guitar in the world besides a Fender Strat. It packs both an aesthetic curvaceous beauty & a powerful sound of my preferrence (anyway cheong hoe owns one but his is a less expensive version). Whenever I set my mind on something or someone I favor, its most unlikely for me to think otherwise. This was true when I wanted the specific model of my car so shall it be for my first electric guitar! Sadly the original American Gibson branded Les Paul will cost me a fortune! enough to buy another car.. To come back down to earth I opted for an alternative which is Epiphone. A brand under the Gibson family which manufactures Les Paul models under the inventors' supervision. So its the closest I could get. Moreover, its price tag only weighs 1/4 of the original Gibson's! Of course its sound would fall short of Gibson's but its still wood so its by chance that I might find one that sounds better than its original. The first washed out pic on the far left is the Epiphone counterpart whereas the sharper pic is the original thing. Can you tell the difference?

Working hard towards the funding of this baby.. May God have mercy on me.. :P Anyway I posted this up coz this is what i'm excited about lately.

The Measure of a Man

Author: matthew /

Ever wonder what makes a true man of God? Or simply a true man as some may call it. I'm currently reading this book entitled "The Measure of a Man" by Gene A. Getz. I just borrowed its title for my post.. please dont sue me...X) This book lays out what & how men are intended to be from the Bible & includes many guidelines from scriptures, thoughts & true stories. Not formulas but mind provoking & encouraging contents on how we can be the man God wants us to be. Personally I've found out that there's much work to be done in me. I recommend this book for guys who really want to be what the Creator intended you to be & also ladies who want to know what does the Bible say about a good man. Available at all leading christian bookstores... I think..anyway I borrowed my copy from Hai Yen. :)

College comedy

I've recently completed my 2nd semester with an ending chapter of a hilarious presentation from my course mates. It was our 'history of graphic design' presentation where we had to pick an individual designer & present about him of course. I went first as a custom in my class to push me out for presentations. It was nothing special, had the usual butterflies fluttering in my stomach but I was able to pull myself together (can't believe till today I've not overcome stage fright!). The fun began when this course mate of mine who is the cutest & yet the eldest in my class went up front to present his research. Firstly let me describe him physically; he's a very chubby 5' 4 guy from Sabah who wears a pair of thick black framed spectacles & his head is adorned with dark colored curly locks. He's cute! haha.. His presentation was exceptionally lengthy & boring but his language was the bomb! He was mentioning his designer as a "civil servant" which I am so so sure I heard him say he's a "silver serpent"! With a thick chinese accent he went on with his 25 minutes presentation with lah's to emphasize his point. eg; "so he is the official designer lah!" My lecturer dozed off haha.. My other funny course mate went up & he struggles with his english so his presentation was too much for him till he would spontaneously speak in hokkien " wah! si beh chang ah... hahaha... my lecturer giggled. It was good fun that day. Its really good to have these bunch of buddies in this line with me.
